World Cup fans were quick to express concern after a viral moment involving Shakira appeared to show the singer looking uncomfortable during a match.
However, it was later revealed that the interaction was actually a sweet exchange with one of her sons.
The 49-year-old Colombian star made a surprise appearance at Dallas Stadium on Monday to watch Argentina, led by Lionel Messi, defeat Austria 2-0 in their Group J World Cup clash.
Shakira, who recently teamed up with Burna Boy to record the official anthem for the 2026 World Cup, was watching from a VIP suite inside the stadium.

Fans inside the venue were thrilled when the “Hips Don’t Lie” singer appeared on the giant screens, receiving a warm welcome from the crowd. But viewers watching at home became distracted by a brief moment during the broadcast.
As cameras focused on Shakira, a person sitting beside her leaned in, wrapped an arm around her shoulders, and kissed her on the cheek.
The interaction immediately sparked discussion online, with some fans suggesting the singer looked uneasy.
One concerned fan wrote on X: “Is Shakira ok?” while sharing footage of the moment. Another questioned: “Who’s this guy trying to force a kiss on Shakira.”
The identity of the kisser revealed
It was later revealed there was no cause for concern, with the person beside Shakira actually her son, Milan, who was simply showing affection toward his mother.
The singer attended the match with both of her children, 13-year-old Milan and 11-year-old Sasha, whom she shares with former footballer Gerard Piqué. Confusion arose because Milan was wearing a white cap and black polo shirt that partially obscured his face.
Some viewers also noted that Milan appeared to tug slightly on his mother’s hair while leaning in, which may have contributed to the impression that Shakira seemed briefly uncomfortable.
Shakira welcomed both children while living in Barcelona during Piqué’s playing career. The pair met while filming the music video for “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” ahead of the 2010 FIFA World Cup and remained together for 11 years before announcing their separation four years ago.
Following the breakup, rumors circulated that Piqué had been unfaithful. He later began a relationship with Clara Chía Martí, prompting speculation that their romance began before the split.
Shakira appeared to reference the breakup in her hit 2023 song “BZRP Music Sessions #53”.
After agreeing on custody arrangements, Shakira moved to Miami with Milan and Sasha.
She officially opened the tournament in Mexico City on June 11, performing “Dai Dai” alongside Burna Boy, the official song of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
