Blue Ivy Carter and North West have once again become the subject of online comparisons after recent public appearances reignited debate over their contrasting personalities, styles, and upbringings as two of the world’s most famous celebrity children.

The online comments began after 14-year-old Blue Ivy attended her father Jay-Z’s Reasonable Doubt Jay-Z30 pop-up event in New York City on June 25, while 13-year-old North West made headlines during Paris Fashion Week just a day later with a bold new look featuring facial piercings, a blue wig, combat boots, and all-black clothing. Social media quickly began comparing the two girls, with many users shifting the focus toward the parenting styles of Beyoncé and Kim Kardashian.
Blue Ivy’s appearance immediately caught fans’ attention, largely because of how closely she resembled her mother. Wearing a casual hoodie and jeans, Blue debuted a long braided ponytail that many fans said looked nearly identical to one of Beyoncé’s signature hairstyles.
“She just like her mama strike a pose and then “ok lets go”” one person posted. While another added, “Blue is so beautiful and special. A true young professional.”
For many, the appearance served as another reminder of Blue’s growing public presence. Over the past several years, she has increasingly stepped into the spotlight alongside her famous parents. She performed alongside Beyoncé during the Renaissance World Tour, later appearing during the Cowboy Carter Tour, and became the youngest Grammy winner after contributing to the song “Brown Skin Girl.”
Despite her growing fame, Blue has largely maintained a composed public image, with many fans praising her confidence, professionalism, and stage presence.
Beyoncé has previously spoken about raising Blue to embrace her natural beauty and feel confident in herself. She once revealed that Jay-Z even grew out his own hair after Blue struggled with confidence about her curls, hoping it would encourage her to love every part of herself.
“We really wanted her to love and embrace every inch of her gorgeous curls,” Beyoncé explained.
Meanwhile, North West generated headlines during Paris Fashion Week after unveiling what appeared to be several facial piercings, including angel bites on her upper lip. Whether the piercings were permanent or temporary remains unclear, but they immediately became one of the most talked-about parts of her appearance.

North completed the edgy look with a bright blue wig, heavy accessories, combat boots, and dark clothing, continuing the fashion-forward style she has increasingly embraced over the past few years.
The appearance followed months after North debuted additional hand piercings and released a song with her father Kanye West titled Piercing on My Hand, in which she raps about wanting “more piercings and tats.”
Some social media users praised North for expressing herself creatively and confidently at a young age.
Others questioned whether she was being given too much freedom.
“I feel North West has decided to just do whatever she wants,” one commenter wrote.
Another argued that the differences between the girls reflected different domestic lives, “Naaah! You can’t say this. Blue’s parents are still together. unlike North, she’s from a broken home and a child from broken home often move weird.
Reason I h@te divorce”
As often happens with celebrity children, the discussion quickly shifted away from Blue and North themselves and toward Beyoncé and Kim Kardashian.
Some commenters claimed the girls are examples of two very different parenting philosophies, with Beyoncé often viewed as more private and structured, while Kim Kardashian is seen as encouraging more public self-expression.
Others pushed back against those assumptions, pointing out that judging parenting based on a handful of public appearances ignores the realities of raising children.

“Two different children, two different personalities, two separate families and different upbringings. It’s not about Kim’s “lack of discipline” because North has a father as well. North has been in the studio and at shows with her father since a baby. Blue has done the same and at practices. North chose music, Blue chose to dance, act, etc. Kim, Kanye, Beyoncé, and Jay allow their children to express themselves in their own way but with parental guidance. I don’t see anything wrong,” one user wrote.
Many also noted that Beyoncé has intentionally kept much of her family life private throughout her career, whereas Kim Kardashian built her brand through reality television and social media, making the two households difficult to compare.
Kim has repeatedly defended North’s creativity, saying she wants her daughter to freely explore fashion, art, and music.
“You know, expressing herself makes North so happy. I would never take that creativity away from her,” Kardashian said during an appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast.
At the same time, Kim has insisted that boundaries still exist at home. She previously explained that North accidentally went live on TikTok without permission and that she quickly ended the livestream because there are still rules surrounding social media use.
Kanye West has also spoken publicly about his concerns regarding his children’s online presence. In a resurfaced 2022 interview, he said his children would not be allowed to use TikTok without his permission.
